Today, you will learn about and apply a modern educational professional knowledge framework: technological, pedagogical, and content knowledge (TPACK) (Mishra & Koehler, 2006). You will reflect on TPACK's useful properties and their implications across content areas across. You will explore, experience, and use a selected digital tool to support your growing TPACK. Finally, you will create a TPACK capacity building activity. After attending TPACK Extravaganza, you will be better equipped to develop rich and robust learner centered, technology enabled activities for your PD/capacity building efforts with staff and/or districts, schools, and teachers.

General Outcomes

  • Provide an understanding of how the TPACK model serves as lens to find the best intersection of curricular standards, sound pedagogy choices, and technology selections (knowledge*)

  • Engage in reflection on the potential for applying TPACK concepts to activities and digital tools when conducting PD/capacity building with districts, schools, and teachers (attitude).

  • Engage and equip participants with relevant knowledge and skills for select Web 2.O tools(skills).

  • Provide the opportunity for participants to build their capacity in aligning Web 2.0 tools with specific intersections of the TPACK model(behavior).

Participant Outcomes

  • Participants will be able to transfer TPACK learning to their own work (knowledge and behavior).

  • Participants will be able to articulate the value and challenges of effective learning experiences supported by TPACK (attitude).

  • Participants will be able to create TPACK - centered digital resources and activities for use in support planning and PD(behavior).

  • Participants will be able to align the new Standard Courses of Study (Common Core State Standards and North Carolina Essential Standards) and pedagogical approaches to select Web 2.0 tools (skill).
